Privacy Policy
Last updated: 29 June 2026
1. Who We Are
Pharos (“we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the audience intelligence platform at pharos.gg. We are based in England and Wales. If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, contact us at legal@pharos.gg.
2. What Data We Collect
We collect the following categories of data:
Account information
When you register, we collect your name, email address, and (optionally) your studio or organisation name. We use this to authenticate you and communicate with you about the Service.
Connected source information
When you connect a social channel or community platform to your workspace, we store the public URL or handle of that account (for example, a Steam page URL, a YouTube channel ID, or a Bluesky handle). We do not store OAuth tokens for platforms that do not require them; where authentication is required we store only the minimum credential needed to read public data on your behalf.
Aggregated public metrics
Pharos periodically reads publicly available metrics from the platforms you connect — such as follower counts, subscriber counts, post counts, and engagement statistics. We store these aggregated numerical values to display trends in your dashboard over time. We do not collect the identities, usernames, profile data, or private messages of any third-party individuals on those platforms.
Usage data
We collect standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited, timestamps) to operate and improve the Service. We do not use third-party analytics scripts.
3. How We Use Your Data
- To create and manage your account and workspace.
- To collect and display audience metrics from your connected platforms, visible only to authorised members of your workspace.
- To generate audience signal scores and profiles for your games.
- To send you transactional emails (account verification, password reset, material changes to these policies).
- To investigate and prevent fraud, abuse, or security incidents.
- To comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your data to train machine learning models or share it with advertisers.
4. Third-Party Platforms
Pharos reads public data from the following platforms on behalf of users who connect them:
- X (formerly Twitter)
- TikTok
- YouTube
- Twitch
- Discord
- Steam
- Bluesky
We access only the public, aggregated metrics available through each platform's official API or public-facing pages. We do not access direct messages, private posts, or any non-public content. Your use of data from these platforms is also subject to each platform's own terms and privacy policies.
5. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on servers within the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, hosted by infrastructure providers that maintain appropriate technical and organisational security measures. We use encrypted connections (TLS) for all data in transit and encrypt sensitive data at rest.
While we take reasonable precautions to protect your data, no internet transmission or storage system is completely secure. If you suspect a security breach affecting your account, contact us immediately at legal@pharos.gg.
6. Data Retention
We retain your account information and connected source data for as long as your account is active. Aggregated metric snapshots are retained for up to 24 months to support historical trend analysis. Server logs are retained for up to 90 days.
When you delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law (for example, for tax or fraud-prevention purposes).
7. Your Rights
Under UK GDPR and applicable data protection law, you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Deletion — request that we delete your personal data, subject to legal retention obligations.
- Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Objection — object to processing based on our legitimate interests.
- Restriction — ask us to restrict processing of your data in certain circumstances.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at legal@pharos.gg. We will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
8. Cookies
Pharos uses only a minimal session cookie to keep you logged in. This cookie is strictly necessary for the Service to function and is deleted when you sign out or close your browser. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics cookies.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect. The “last updated” date at the top of this page reflects when the current version was published.
10. Governing Law
This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes relating to this policy shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
